Ready to Write? Fiction & Creative Nonfiction starts June 14

Everyone has a story to tell. If you’re ready to tell yours, this Fiction and Creative Nonfiction Writing class will get you started. The class is for beginners and experienced writers alike, and will focus on the components of effective writing and strategies to maintain a writing practice. There will be short readings, writing exercises, discussions, and the opportunity to workshop.

Fiction and Creative Nonfiction Writing is taught by published author Caitlin McCarthy. McCarthy holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in writing and currently teaches literature and language arts at Corpus Christi School in Oakland. She is also a private writing coach and teaches writing workshops for all ages. Author of the novel Ship of Fates, McCarthy has lived in the Bay Area her whole life. She lives in Oakland with her husband and her cat.

“Caitlin McCarthy is a wonderful teacher who brought a wealth of knowledge, personalized guidance, and much appreciated encouragement. She was able to tailor the class beautifully to the needs and wants of each individual student. I can’t wait to take more classes with this teacher.” – Jacob Deme (student, Spring 2022 session)
