Upcoming Field Trips and Events
FIELD TRIP #3: On Thursday, March 29th, the entire sixth grade will participate in the annual HOUSES OF WORSHIP field trip. This year we will visit the Piedmont Community Church, the Buddhist Temple in Berkeley, and Temple Beth Abraham in Oakland. Religions of the world are an important part of our studies of ancient civilizations in social studies. This trip gives our students some insight into how these religions play a part in our world today. It is a wonderful and informative field trip.
FIELD TRIP # 2: On Wednesday, February 1st, our class will go to the Asian Art Museum. We will participate in a new program called "Traveling along the Silk and Spice Routes". The Asian Art Museum provides excellent programs for schools free of charge. The programs have been educational and also enjoyable for the students. We hope you can join us!
FIELD TRIP: On Thursday, December 8th, our class went to the Egyptian Museum in San Jose. This museum is a treasure chest of artifacts from ancient Egypt. It even has mummies! This trip enhanced our study of ancient Egypt. The students had a very good time. Thank you to the parents who joined us!
SIXTH GRADE READING REQUIREMENT: All sixth grade students at Piedmont Middle School are required to read a minimum of 30 minutes daily. This includes weekends! It is a good idea to carry a reading book to school so that you will have it on hand if you finish other assignments.
